EC-Council now has an online verification tool to check for CEH, CHFI, ECSA, LPT and their other certs. https://aspen.eccouncil.org/verify.aspx

Also a correction, in order to verify an (ISC)2 cred you don't have to supply a first name. Last name and cert number is enough.

    Hey JDMurray,

For EC-Council you don't need to mail in a request etc. Maybe it's changed since you posted.

    EC-Council:
    1)Navigate to
    Verify Certification
    2) Enter Candidate name: Chase Benfield
    3) Enter verification number: ECC54742090865

Verified. Just ask candidatr for verification number and name.

Thanks for the review. I did not consider adjusting the video speed, but will definitely try it now. Taking the SSCP exam at the end of the month.

CAPM and PMP qualification holders are listed on a registry on the PMI.org site, which lists most certificate holders.
Some though can opt not to have their name displayed.

    Great writeup JD

Another handy utility for studying is the JUNOS genius app: Junos Genius - Juniper Networks

I'm considering taking this exam in the future as a position I'm looking at is utilizing Juniper based security.

This is exactly the kind of thing I would have loved to see about every exam before going to take it. Not breaking your NDA or anything, just a "how it works" type thing. Ours may not be at a hotel when we go (Probably no snacks ) but this tells me what to expect. Scantron, not bathroom nazis, around a week wait after the test. VERY NICE

Thank you JDMurray for this amazing information since I am working to get the CISSP in the near future. I heard about the SSCP, but like you said it doesn't attract employers much. Most of the Information Security jobs out there are requiring CISSP certification on candidates. Your blog is very informative and I would recommend it to anyone that would be pursuing the CISSP like myself.

Well, over a year later and I can say that I only heard about the CASP while looking on the CompTIA website; However it is listed on the DOD standards now at the same level as CISSP in most areas, and when doing job related searches I found many upper level jobs with it listed as a requirement, sometimes the only requirement.

It seems to be gaining traction, and may be a contender with CISSP eventually (especially for those who see ISC2 as declining as an organization).

My avatar is a face shot of Silent Bob. I use it because people use to tell me that I looked like him. Now I look more like Uncle Fester.
