For the errata of

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-529):

Please add following lines to the errata:

"page 437 : CustomSecurityAssertion assertion = new CustomSecurityAssertion("WindowsUserName", "password");
BE SURE TO USE THE WindowsUserName AND password THAT YOU USE TO LOG IN ON YOUR COMPUTER !!!"

It cost me a couple hours to find this out; time I had better spent on study...

If your computer is on a domain, you can't create a password hint. Otherwise, you can change the hint when you change the password.

I tried to do it the easy way, but my "TimeServers.Reg" didn't seem to work for some reason.

I think it's because of that Backslash thing Al (Above comments) talked about, so what backslashes is the Reg (Above) missing?

My problem is trivial but I'd like to fix it all the same. I changed my Windows Vista Login password using the option from the CTL-ALT-DEL screen. No problem. Now when I login and get the password wrong it gives me the "hint" from my previous password. I'd like to change the hint too but can't find any way to do this. Like I said. trivial. I'm just a regular user so once explanations on how to do things get too technical for me to understand I'll go no further. Lliving with a trivial problem is a lot better than creating a major one because I didn't know what I was doing.

All the same I'd like to fix it. Any ideas simple enough for a regular user? What does "website" mean in the "Leave a Reply" process?

I had the same probem with the XP firewall

Opening the Firewall settings you go to Advanced, then ICMP and Settings. Then you check the appropriate checkbox (2nd from the top, I have a Danish version and prefer not to translate :o).

That worked for me.

Thanks J. D. Murray, for sharing your experience of 'SSCP' with us. It was very informative. I plan to get this sometime in future, as I have just started my career, and have been in infosec for about 2 months now. So in about another year or so I think I should get on road for 'SSCP'. Best part of your article was where you mentioned how many people think of SSCP as an unecessary cert when they plan to get their CISSP in future. I have had conflicting thoughts about it as well, but like you said it is better to have something on the resume sooner than later. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you for the information above, needed it badly and it worked perfectly! As others may end where I was an hour ago and I got here using Google, I’m adding a few details to help the next…

I ignored normal settle-in rules and started using my new Dell XPS M1330 faster than I should. Opting for simplicity and fast reboots I added my username and omitted the password. So far so good.

However, starting the “Finger Print Reader Suite” suddenly required a password for the current account. As there was none Vista appears to enter a catch-22 situation … effectively I was shut out of the system.

You got me back in, thank you!

A very informative article which gives clear instructions. The router I use is beetel450bxl adsl2 + modem. and a Netgear USB wireless adapter compact G , When I changed the settings after reading your article, I choose the following:

Network authentication: WPA2-PSK.
WPA-PSK: 64 hexadecimal (A-F, 0-9).
WPa Group rekey interval: 3600
WPA encryption - TKIP

The PSK for ascii 63 characters was not accepted. Then WPA encryption had the AES and AES+TKIP choice, I have no idea which is better. Is there an update on your article.

Thanks,
