This one cost me a couple of hours too. I’m working through 70-528 (and being more of a windows/windows-forms programmer); I ran into a wall with chapter 2/lesson 2’s lab on pg 86. The author’s never tell you how to move the controls, they make it seem like it’s drag and drop (like a WinForm) and maybe it’s just me on this, but I had to add a style parameter to get the “drag and drop” to work on the design surface. Specifically, between the runat=”server” and the end of the control, I had to add: Style=”position: absolute;” in the source window. After that, magically, drag and drop started dragging and dropping. HTH someone else.

I believe that hands on course will help candidates in certification than just reading through a study kit.
