    Default scsi id

Which scsi id has a higher priority? The lower the number the higher priority or the higher the number the higher the priority? I keep finding different answers in different books and web sites. Please help.

The higher the number the higher the priority, with 7 being the highest.

Yes, the higher the SCSI ID , the higher the priority when negotiating for the SCSI bus.
7 is highest for all SCSI types, priority sequence for wide SCSI is:
    7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8.

(I'll add this to the SCSI TechNote also)
