    Default How long?

    Hi

How long would you need to revise for this exam, if your of average inteligance and willing to learn, a big A+ book and many hours to read due to unemployment.

i understand that everybody is different and learn at different rates but a rough estimate will do.

anyone who has passed could they post their study routines for comparison.

    Thanks

    Lee H

depends on what you know to begin with, i suppose. but, in general, the A+ exam represents about 6 months of experience. You need to also pass the A+ OS test too, though, not just the HW to become certified. and they have a new, updated test, so i'd study for that one if I were you. Granted, you can take the old one as long as you pass both by June (or maybe july), but why pressure yourself? It's a lot of material to learn. It might be a good idea to look into a class...mine lasted a month and a half, as did the OS and I passed both with no problem.

In fact, I was also unemployed when I took my A+ cert. I studied about 8-10 hours every day and about 3-4 weeks for each test. I had been doing a lot of installations etc so I was rather confident with the "basic" things. The key to success doing it in such is a short time is to be very hard when it comes to playing games, sleeping long days and such....things I normally like

You must be 100% focused if you want to pass fast and on your fist try! Let your friends (girlfriend) know that you are going for it and things will be much easier when it comes to say: Sorry, I must study!

Go to Amazon and check the for the best A+ books and order one MAIN-study book. Complement with a book with just questions (think they still are around on Amazon) to see your weak areas.

Finally, take as many practice tests you can and if you can afford it, buy a full test from SelfTest or Transcender (they are really good).

Here are som links to tests:

A+ helped me to get several jobs starting at helpdesk..later consultant and today I'm into adminjobs with networks.

    BEST OF LUCK
