How far can you ping with exiting exec mode.

I loaded up a spare LWAP changes the IP reloaded the AP and it kept the IP I put in.

Next thing would be to try and ping the LWAP from the WLC.

I'm slightly curious as to why you can not ping the neighboring switch or default gateway from the LWAP.

This might sound stupid but have we tried different cables? Were talking about getting a LWAP a DHCP address, I don't think it should be this complicated.

Does a sh run or sh logg display anything abnormal?

i will display both in a seperate reply. i have tried many different cables and many different ports. i also connected directly to the WLC. Heres whats driving me nuts now. I assign an IP, can ping... Then suddenly cant b/c the AP goes looking for a dhcp, and then the damn thing reboots!!.

i think the second line is my problem.

You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI.

what if you do a sh int gigabithethernet0 anything weird there?

I'm running out of ideas here.. (maybe the port is bad?) Might have to find a way to upload the autonomous image back up to it and then make it an LWAPP again.

If your able to put the controller's IP address in Name resolution should not be effecting this.

Maybe try lwapp commands instead of capwap?

Are their any ACLs/FW that could be blocking this AP on the network? The fact we could not ping anything is a bit off-setting

Steve, i just called my rep and RMA'd it. I really appreciate your patience. theres no way this should be happening. I've read everything and tried everything for 10 days. Its killing me.

i tried getting the image, but i didnt know how to get it. You need a special account to download.

Thats one of the problems... i cant assign anything b/c it keeps getting wiped out when the AP starts looking for a dhcp server, then it reboots on its own.

i tried lwapp for several days. i will try again though.
