The first thing you need is a lab of cisco routers and switches. The exams will expire and be replaced on Sept 7 2003, but the base information will remain. They simply start throwing in the up coming stuff they want us to know about.

Also, if you start with the BSCI exam (like most people do) you don't have to worry about it at all. Since the BSCI 1.0 exam was already a fairly new exam (replaced BSCN exam a while back) the content has not changed and you can use the currently available BSCI 1.0 study guides/material to prepare for the upcoming BSCI 2.0 exam.

As for books, I find Cisco Press books to be far out the best books to prepare for Cisco exams, although Sybex isn't bad either...

    Good luck!

do you know what topics will be on the new bsci and what wont? it sounds like it wont be much of a change, but any info about changes would be helpful. does cisco have a web page listing the changes or anything? I just bought the cisco press self-study bsci book, so im really hoping the changes are minimal enough that this book will cover everything.

In short, the BSCI exam covers: EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, route redistribution, advanced routing and IP addressing.
