I got my official notice that I am in the June 20 cohort... on June 20 (I guess it is a time zone thing), followed a couple of hours later by the login details and welcome pack.

Working my way through the SECFND stuff. And it is fundamentals, so far. A couple of errors in the text and challenges, here and there. But pretty good stuff.

Anyone else here in this cohort? Finding it hard/easy?

Definitely not hard. I hope to finish SECFND within 3 weeks and sit first exam.

SECFND looks very easy. I would be happy to sit exam tomorrow but all labs and challenges have to completed before voucher request.

Is there a way to request for a sooner start date? I asked this before and didn't get a response, I don't start till April 2018.

    I passed the 210-255 yesterday.

There's a few questions where the wording is confusing and I would say are borderline BS. I agree about reading the gap coverage document (although it's written in a way suggesting the author is ESL). Some of the terminology is just not right (even the gap coverage document vouches for this).

It's not a bad certification, but I wouldn't recommend paying $600 of your hard-earned dollars to take it. I know everyone in this thread is taking it at no-cost and many can get employers to pay, so not really a big point to make for this audience.

There's a surprising amount of content that just is not in the exam. It's bound to happen but I can't remember the last time where just giant chunks were no where to be seen.

    Good luck everyone.

Buy the book that is now available on Cisco Press. It will have more than what the labs provided.

Well, I passed. These two exams are on completely different levels. Definitely go over the gap coverage document and think of scenario based questions through each of the steps and phases.

Anyone get a CPE/CEU count from the course completion? Would like to turn those in to ISC and CompTIA.

As a heads up to those still waiting for their cohort to start, Safari Books has the study guides as well as a video series for each exam. Since my cohort doesn't start until December, this is a good opportunity to get a jump on things and see what sort of content this cert covers.

Hello, short version of my story...hoping to break into Cyber Security in my retail company. I have 15 yrs in Leadership positions, currently Regional Leader in Supply Chain Loss Prevention. If you were in my shoes trying to get into the Cisco scholarship with no experience and knowing what you know now, which would you pursue first to just qualify for the Cisco Scholarship (hint: I'm looking for the path of least resistance)
Basic technical competency (possess one or more of the following):
    • Cisco certification (Cisco CCENT certification or higher)
    • Relevant industry certification [(ISC)2, CompTIA Security+, EC-Council, GIAC, ISACA]
    • Cisco Networking Academy letter of completion (CCNA 1 and CCNA 2)
    • Windows expertise: Microsoft (Microsoft Specialist, MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA (A+, Network+, Server+)
    • Linux expertise: CompTIA (Linux+), Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certification, Linux Foundation (LFCS, LFCE), Red Hat (RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA), Oracle Linux (OCA, OCP)
