Default Resume for Blueblazer (non-IT) Job..

Okay so it's damn near impossible for me to get a security clearance, especially in this economy.

So my plan is.. to apply to DoD Company for Blueblazer (security) position.

Job pays 14.00/hr.. and must be eligible for Top Secret Security Clearance.

I'll do this while getting my Degree/Certifications, part time volunteer experience. Once my time is up, I'll start applying for big dawg jobs

but I've come to realize.. that I have NO idea on what to put down on my resume.. I have to change EVERYTHING around..

What I'm taking in college and my certifications will have nothing to do with this job. Anyone have any suggestions? All theyre really looking for is that good background, pass drug test, physical and background check, and highschool diploma.

Example.. what do I put for Objective? "I Want a Security Clearance" LOL

all jokes aside.. should I just take that out and just leave the basics.. my education history, my job history, and maybe references?

typically I leave references out.. but now a days.. its not what you know, its who you know.. and Im going to put people that work for these government agencies down so they can pick that up and consider me.. hopefully.

any advice you have will help. thanks!

My curiosity is tweaked by this, what is a Blue Blazer position?

You may to be less obvious and stick with something like "career in the security industry." And point out in your cover letter your security related studies in school and computer certifications. And if you can work in that all the other security isn't effective unless you also have physical security, you could earn some brownie points.

I'm guessing Security Guard.

you should be able to pull something out of your bag of trix :P

i wrote my roles down and had a friend in the hiring business that tailored it to what employers look for. im not sure what your experience looks like but if you havent already, it wouldnt hurt to write it all down then extract what applies to whoever your applying to. my problem was weeding out what was not relevant for myself (i cross trained comm). definitely have someone else in management/hiring business take a second look.

sometimes, the quickest way to get a security clearance is to sign up for the military. 4yrs is shorter than you think, and the DoD contractors prefer it, and you'll be starting off a bit higher than those rates, after you serve some time. at least in my line of work, unless you have a degree or years in the service, you'd have a hard time getting a clearance.

Sure... But the reason that I mention it to him is because he is in MD ( I think). Security Analysts are always needed in that area.

I don't have any real job experience other than machine operator, mcdonalds, verizon fios door2door sales rep, part-time bailbondsman, dicks sporting goods sales rep, etc.

nothing related to computers or security guard/access.

I can not enlist to anything.. I've tried. I'm ineligible.

or else I would have signed up when i was 18. (23 now).

I'm looking for any full-time work I can get.. but all the good jobs are those with Security Clearance.

Which is why I was trying to apply for blueblazer (guard job) at a DoD Company located in Columbia, MD.

I live in Baltimore, MD.

I went for an interview today in Washington DC.. but couldnt find parking anywhere.. and traffic was terrible, I got lost. So i just came home, hoping to reschedule something for friday, and I'll just take the MARC train/lightrail.

Any Entry Level Desktop Support/System Administrator job is what I'm looking for.

I've been working 2 days/week doing Desktop Support for this company now.. for over 3 months now. I'm getting paid only 13/hr.

This job in DC.. offers 15-17/hr. Another offers 18/hr in Baltimore. Both for Desktop Support.

I don't mind still doing Helpdesk/Desktop support until I gain enough experience with Active Directory/System Administration/Engineering to apply for a higher up position.

I'm starting Cisco at Community College this September.. and returning to TrainingCamp to get my MCSE/MCSE: Security.

If you or anyone can help me out.. I will before forever grateful.

Thanks.
