Default MCSA: Windows Server 2016 Passed!

Finished today with the 70-742. Interestingly, I had the toughest exam with the 70-740, which was weird. The 741 and 742 felt a bit easier overall. My only weak area this time was certificate services, mainly because we don't use them too much in our business (we purchase external certificates mainly).

So glad the MCSA is done. Time now to take a break from Microsoft and work towards my Information Privacy and Protection certifications.

Congratulations! What resources did you use for 742? I've gone through CBT Nuggets and ITPro TV. I have the exam Ref but I feel alot is missing from it like with the previous exam certs.

I actually changed my tactics on this one. I used the Microsoft Virtual Academy and the Exam Ref book only. That was it. My method is three stages: 1. Read through the book, highlighting parts I feel are important. 2. Watch the videos I find (MVA in this case). 3. Cross-reference the videos into the book by adding my own notes to what is in the book itself. Use this as the final revision and learn from there.

Of course, this includes my own previous experience as a SysAdmin/Consultant.

I actually have done it all in the time I've been in my new job, so about 10 months now, but that also includes every certification I have except for the Windows 7 one.

It does! I've done Microsoft all my life, so the change is going to be a culture shock for me. My company have offered me a Data Protection Officer role with the new GDPR law coming into effect soon, so this is my main focus now.

Thanks, for the tip. I need to change my studying habits after failing 70-741 twice, now going through 70-742 I will go back to 70-741 later on. Just returned from a break in Spain, I feel relaxed and switched on to hit the books again.

I want to get my MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure by October this year so I can move to better job roles outside the UK. Shame I dont get to experience Server stuff in my current job role but I'm paying for all of this to expanded my skill set my current job doesn't offer me.

Congrats! I recommend going for the Secure exam 70-743, there has been lots of changes in this area and many new valuable features. It worth the try!

Just failed the 70-742 with a 665...i got 70-80 percent on all the subjects except ADFS. Got 40 percent there. Sitting again for the exam in 10 days with a little more focus on ADFS. Wish me luck!
