    Default 2003 reset of Directory Restore Admin Password

    How To Reset the Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Account Password in Windows Server 2003


    is this the correct how to to reset the directory restore password.
    i have to reset it since I have no clue what it is when my boss got fired.

    This sounds correct. I've never had to do it but do recall reading about it.

    Does this mean promotion?

    That would be to procedure. It's a good idea to have this be part of your (at least yearly) changing of passwords for system accounts, etc.

    Also make sure to change it on EACH domain controller, as this is not synced.

    when my boss got fired he died with some main passwords...thanks
