    Default 1000base-lx cable length

    Hi,

I bought the syngress n10-003 book and i was reading about 1000base-lx and the book says that the maximum cable length is 10 km.

but i also bought the network+ book from mc graw hill and that book says that the maximum cable length is 3 km.

I read in the network+ 2005 in depth and that book says that the maximum cable length is 5000 meters.

And the sybex book says that the maximum cable length is 2km.

Does anybody know what the correct length is?

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Thanks in advance.

In case you're too lazy to click on the link.

1000BaseLX uses multimode fiber with a maximum length of 550 meters or single-mode fiber with a maximum length of 5 km.
