Just saw a job posting. They are looking for a security analyst with:

At least 506 years of Security Operations experience in Network and Routing
    I think that is reasonable.

    That is completely reasonable.

(In response to the Ted post from earlier) This post is so accurate to what I feel happens it is quite literally evil incarnate.

On website I browse on occasion in my free time is called Slow Robot, but it's not always SFW, at lease language-wise.

Promised my little daughter I would buy her shoes today.
    Paid some bills.
Going to get started on my ICND1 course at WGU this weekend and I might hit up the driving range

I have a pretty boring life since we are saving up for a home purchase next year so I have to buckle down a little and not go spend crazy lol

I love how the bank told us we could get a 900k dollar loan. I told them that I will not even be at half of that. Ever since I told the loan specialist that I won't go that high she has been giving me a cold shoulder. It might be time to move to another bank and talk to them. I don't have time for these petty games. I want to make sure my wife and I have everything in order by June of next year and not be in a situation of "oh well 6 months ago you should have done this, we have to delay the process now due to that"

Why are people like that? Pisses me off

Got a meeting later to discuss salary raise, exciting and nervous at the same time. At least I get to grab some good eats as I'm there.

    Good times.

WFH 1/2 day, this Friday is a win and next Friday we are off for the 4th of July (US Holiday)

I might put in leave for Monday just to make it a 3 day work week. Although that would mean squeezing 40 hours in 3 days, due to the shear workload and projects. Ugh......

Sup guys? Figured I'd come in on this thread. I don't really go out much on the weekends, so this is a cool place to chill. I'm just relaxing and watching some Netflix. I have 5 more mins on this second section of the MCSA on Pluralsight. Probably going to finish that up.

Today is dragging. Setting up a Linux box to train on at work. Been putting off Linux+ for too long. I've got a surplus of laptops so I figured I'll use one. Also training on Mac OS X. Do you guys ever find it weird when you're at a job interview and find one of the interviewers was kind of a cutie?

Oh and the weekend needs to get here already. I want to get home and workout so I can then do chores before I relax with some anime on the couch. It also needs to be the weekend so I have ample daylight to go ride my mountain bike.

So I put a down-payment on a new car. I feel kind of gitty.

I put on order a 2015 Camaro Z28, Black with a Factory 30% tint. Car will be ready in 3 weeks

It's my present to myself, have done one in 5 years since I got my 2008 Black Pontiac G6 GXP 3.6; Shela is still running perfectly fine, I just want to treat her as a Sunday car. She heavily modified: 5 lb boost Turbo, Brembo's in the front, Coilovers with Koni Yellow Shocks, super stiff suspension, a Eibach anti-roll sway bar kit, and to round it off a 93 octane ECM/TCM tune, she only uses 93 now.

Congrats on the new car!!! I'm personally an import guy. I've got a heavily modified Nissan Nismo 350Z. But I must say, I've been eyeballing those new Camaro Z28's. They just look sooo mean and aggressive, I love it! That 505hp and 481q out of that gorgeous sounding naturally aspirated LS7 motor *envy* is just epic!! You got yourself one sweet ride! Also, I like that you're keeping your old car for a Sunday car. It's funny how we just can't let them go huh? Especially after all the work we put into them.

    Cheer mate!!

Congrats! I'd love to get a new car right now too but don't want to deal with payments. Just slowly saving money to buy it no financing. Looking at an FR-S or 2016 Miata. Last car payment I did took me 4 years to pay off and I hated it. Now that the car is paid off I drive it way less and just save it for track days or mobbing on mountain roads.

Fun Friday observation is that working in a building with comprised of mostly IT staff I find that the dudes never wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Doesn't matter if it's number 1 or 2. When I head out to the main office with the non tech folks I notice the rate of washing hands is way higher. What gives, IT people?

Grats. I've been wanting to look at a new car but it isn't the best choice. Torn between power/accel and gas economy. That and I just hit a savings milestone so it is not a good time to spend.

Default IT might not be for you...

...if Google isn't your first troubleshooting step.
You tried rebooting? Eh, that's acceptable too.

...if under pressure you bend like a wet noodle.

Two of your hosts are offline and only half of your production VM's failed over, go!

...if an angry user can make you cry.

When Sally starts yelling, calmly walk away. When you're back to your desk, wreak havoc on her PC.

...if you truly think the customer is always right.

I'm sure you can think of your own example, mine are just two pages worth of rants.

    ...if you have anger issues.

We all want to, but we can't hit the users.

I think you have the first part wrong. If google is really your first troubleshooting step then IT might not be for you...

If you know what your doing, you don't need google.
If you don't know what your doing, you need to know enough to know what to google.

You can't just google "My device is down" and expect to get good results.

Good thread. Although yeah I'd say Google just needs to be part of your arsenal, not necessarily your first step. I wouldn't ask anyone for help before I googled it (assuming it is something you can search for).

I don't think rebooting is a good first troubleshooting step either. If your having issues with a production vCenter I highly doubt you would reboot it first thing.
