Default New to IT, Studying for MTA 98-366 and any help is welcome

    Hey guys,

First, sorry for the lengthy intro, but I'm new to the whole world of IT. I'm currently enlisted in the Marine Corps and getting out after 6 years in about 10 months. My whole time in was in the infantry and I never had any computer networking experience. Now that I'm on my way out the job market is looking pretty rough but one of my SSgts tells me about a transitioning program where the Corps will pay me to go to a 19 week course and learn network and cloud admin stuff from MSSA and hook up potential job interviews after. one of the pre-requisites is getting the MTA 98-366 certification before the course starts in Jan. I've been studying the text book for 3 or 4 weeks now. I'm understanding the material but its all new to me so there's a lot to learn. If you guys have any tips about what I should be focusing on or anything like that I'm open and appreciative of any help. I'm really excited I found this forum and I'm hoping to use it going forward into my tech career.

Microsoft Virtual Academy may help with your progress as they have free Network Fundamentals training. Here is the link: https://mva.microsoft.com/en-US/trai...KKy_1704984382

Do you have any idea what exactly you want to do in the IT field? There is a broad range of possibilities. Maybe we can help you figure things out you decide on that.

thanks guys. I have been using the virtual academy, the school gave me the text book and work book for the course (no answers though) to study on my own and each virtual academy module follows the chapters of the book so I use it to recap after I'm done with a chapter. the MSSA only teaches one track at a time, they have 3 different tracks you can take, but right now they're doing the network and cloud administration track so I'm pretty much being forced into that focus of the IT field.
