    Default Scheduled the Security+ exam

    Greetings everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I have scheduled the Security+ exam on Saturday May 20th and I am a little bit anxious about it.

    Anyways...

I have been studying since January of 2017 and I work full time about 50 to 60 hrs a week. I take about 2 to 3 hrs a night and about a total of 10 hrs on weekends to study.

-First I read through Darrill Gibson's Security+ book carefully and reviewed all the questions at the end of every chapter. I flip through the book every so often just as a review to keep topics fresh.
    -I went through all of Professor Messer's Security+ video's.
-I purchased Professor Messer's notes and I go through them often.
-I printed this out as part of my notes: Sec+ common ports-proto-misc.
-I found some dumps online and found out really fast that it was a bad idea since the majority of the answers were wrong. Those have been deleted.
-Purchased the Security+ practice exams from Boson, Transcender, MeasureUp, and Darrill Gibson's Get Certified Get Ahead web site. For the last month and a half, I have gone through the practice exams to a point where I get 90% or better every time. I still find myself going over the explanation of the the answers.
-I also went through the Examcompass site and found myself scoring between 90% and 100% on the different sections.
-I check this site everyday to see what others talk about this test.

    That's pretty much it.

If anyone has any last minutes tips please let me know as I reaaaallly need to pass this exam.

    Thanks!

I just got my Security+ pass tonight and you definitely did a lot more prep than I did! I read Darrils book, did the practice tests and just studied the exam objectives CompTIA provides over the course of a month. You should be totally fine!

Awesome man. Those are pretty good study habits. Like the rest, I also agree and feel like you should be able to knock this test out of the park. Good luck and may the Force be with you.

Good luck on your exam. Looks like you are well prepared and will do great. I just passed my network+ yesterday and have the Security+ on the horizon. Would like to have the cert by the end of this year.

Not sure though if I should wait for new 501 version or start studying for and take current 401 version.

@tunkabott, did you take the exam yesterday as planned? I'm curious to know how it went and how you felt the exam was?

It's a pass! Score was 795 out of 900. In hindsight I wish I had done more labs in preparation for the exam. Other than that, if you have a solid understanding of the objectives listed on the CompTIA site then you have a good chance of passing.

The majority of the questions are really easy but I also ran into some question that I didn't even how to even answer. I got to the last question in about 40 minutes so I went back and started it again. That helped because I found some mistakes on my first pass. I stared at the questions that I was struggling the most with using the last remaining minutes of the test. I tried to think through them and gave them by best shot.

Having to go through a survey before seeing your score is brutal. I really wish they would get rid of that.
