Default Anyone else get the invite for the Server+ 2009 beta?

I just got the email to sign up for the CompTIA Server+ 2009 beta. I don't know yet if I've been accepted.

You can try to sign up for it here: CompTIA Server+ Certification, Server+ Certification

CompTIA trying to trump the Windows 7 beta? Unlikely...

Speaking of which, the Release Candidate of Windows 7 (Build 7100) is due out on May 5th, but it's supposedly available on BitTorrent now.

I signed up. I dont know how I'll have time to do this if I get it, but i probably wont study for it anyway. I'd wager there is a decent chance I know enough information to pass this as-is, but you never know.

I can't turn down free.

This is tempting, hrm. I think I'm bordering on insane with what's already on my plate for the next few weeks...plus I think I can only handle one beta per month, the lack of an immediate score on TWO exams might just push me over the edge!

There's that, and the fact that I don't care

(Sorry JD )

I signed up. I don't really care one way or the other. The Server+ wasn't exactly on my To-Do list of certifications, but I wouldn't mind adding it to the CompTIA list I have started.

Hmm, I wonder how many people who have no genuine interest in this certification but decided to make a big stink about the Windows 7 beta exam filling up so fast will register for this one

I didn't make a big stink about the Windows 7 exam, I got a spot but I wouldn't have nagged if I didn't - but I'll go ahead and admit I registered for the shot at taking the Server+ beta... and I have absolutely no interest in the certification and doubt it will benefit me much if any, but a freebie is a freebie I suppose. It will be my 4th exam for the month of May if selected, since I have more important exams scheduled, I won't be putting in any study time for this one but I don't think it will really be needed anyways.

Thanks for the link

Well, there have been a few threads about "Is the Server+ worth it?". I'm hoping it is, and I wouldn't have (or won't) taken it if it weren't free. But, can't beat free. I do plan on the Security+, though.

Yep. Received my invite 2 days ago, but I have too much on my plate to even think about it! But, I must say, I have taken several cert exams, probably failed as many as I have passed, and I have never seen another that is like Server+.

And I saw that thread about "Is Server+ plus worth it?". I did not even dignify it with a view. I think questions like that are goofy--the sign of a true newbie. If you want to be a "true" CompTIA technician, then you should take it. It's a natural in the path--A+ to Security+, maybe to Linux+.

Good luck all to of you lucky ones!

I signed up... I doubt that I'll get in with the limited number of seats. I thought about studying for the Server+ about 3 years ago, but I ended up going down the Microsoft path instead... If I get a seat, it will be interesting to see what I might have missed

I got the email and signed up as well. I took it about 5 years ago and passed with 2 weeks of study. Curious to see if they have made it worth the cost. We shall see.

How does it work if you get a voucher how do you study, there's barely study material for the old Server+ Exam

The used ones used to go for $5; I guess there's been a spike in demand. You could buy mine off of me too

When I got my Server+ in 2003 there were no books for it, but I found more than enough info on SCSI, tape backups, etc. on the Web.

I just received an email that asked me to confirm that I could take the beta exam by June 15th. It stated that once confirmed, they would send me a voucher code. It looks like I was selected!
