Default Latest Certifications to study for

I need to study for SQL certifications, so I am looking into this again. Is Exam 70-461 for Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012 the most latest certification to study for? I don't want to study for the one that is considered obsolete. Also, should this be my first certification? I have worked on SQL server for years, but mostly as a SQL developer.

Anyone? Someone else posted his/her first post and got a reply fast. I am still waiting.

The reason I ask is because SQL Server 2014 is out, but the cert is for 2012. So, what should I do at this point?

    Thanks

Go for 2012, it is basically the same. That is what I am going to do.
