Default SQL Server Clustering

I'm not wishing to step on RobertKaucher's toes and his excellent post about building a test lab for practising SQL server clustering from the ground up, however I'd like to share my resources (read 'experiences') regarding the SQL Server installation itself.

I've included some for SQL 2000 more for support purposes (there are an awful lot of SQL 2000 installations out there, many are clustered and a lot are poorly implemented) but I have spared you the horror of NT4/SQL7 clustering - if you're still running one of these you must really like pain, or late nights and overtime

I've built lots of these over the past 10 years, so I hope this post helps someone to create a rock solid SQL server cluster and to spare them from some of the troubles I had. Enjoy!

Good god I can't imagine having to deal with NT4 Wolfpack these days. Kill me now.

Bah. It was all 'good character building stuff'. Would you have got to where you are today without those experiences? It was all good for me I'm sure. minus the nervous twitches, voices in my head and the strange aversion to sunlight I have developed due to all the work at night

Took me till Win2k3 before the Wolfpack voices stopped speaking to me and Microsoft finally released cluster software that was comparable with the stuff DEC was selling back in the mid-90's (VAXclusters).
