It's just Veritas taking the test today. I haven't even worked up the nerve to COMMIT to studying for the 70-680 much less the 70-685.

    Bring back that MCITP Veritas!!

I'm hoping I will. I have to pay for this one out of pocket so I'm trying extra hard...

Ouch, missed it with a 636. This test was given in a method that is very from the 680. It was brutal to say the very least...

    Weak Areas:

    • Supporting Mobile Users
    • Identifying Cause and Resolving Networking Issues

I'm honestly unsure where to even begin at studying for this test again.

Ouch, I thought you would get this one cold. You weren't that far off and you have 3 more weeks til next term starts. You can do it man.
Study up on those 2 areas you were weak on.

Ouch man, that totally sucks... I know you paid out of pocket but are there any sort of second chance discounts you can take advantage of? I'm petrified of paying out of pocket for an exam and failing myself, just can't afford it.

Yeah it was brutal, made it with a 807, format was new to me, some of the areas they went I was was not familiar with.

    Strong area:
Identifying Cause of and Resolving Desktop Applications Issues 100%
Identifying Cause and Resolving Security Issues 100%

    Weak area:
Supporting Mobile Users less then 45%

More about BranchCashe and DirectAccess then the 680 which I felt that exam was lacking.

So my experience with MCITP: EDST 7:
70-680: studied for 6 weeks total, used Sybex book, Resources thread here and other Tech net resources, took the test twice, first after 4 weeks of study got 665, second shot got 945. I really like the Sybex books in general, even though I know this wasn't their best work. I think the CDs that they come with are great used the flashcards and made sure that I understood all areas highlighted in them.

70-685: studied 6 weeks, used MS press book including the large appendix, CBT Nuggets, Resources thread here, read a few chapters in the sybex book that I felt the MSpress was lacking. I watched the whole CBT nuggets before reading the MS press book, then after reading each chapter I would watch the matching videos, then I studied each objective in the Resources thread and watched all the videos for that objective.

so watched the cbt nuggets a total of 3 times, second 2 times at 1.5 speed. took me a little over 3 months for both tests.

I purchased Darril Gibson's 685 book today at work. I used Amazon Prime so it should be at work when I get back Monday. Hopefully some skimming over my weak areas in that book, and some reading in the Tony Northrup book will help me over the edge when I take the exam again.

The sad part is that I have tried harder for this one than the 680...

Oh well, even if I fail every exam the first time for the MCITP:EA at least they will be free. Thanks WGU

I'm going to schedule my 685 on the first week of September. Right now studying from MS Press and CBT Nuggets. I wonder if you came upon topics which weren't covered in these study materials? Also, what do you mean "test was given in a method that is very from the 680"? I'm getting nervous, because for this exam I will have to pay by myself too. And there is no Second Shot

Just take the exam slowly. For some reason I had quite a few realllllly long scenarios that were used across several questions. Having never seen this on the 680, I wasn't ready for it and I think that is the reason I failed the exam. At this point I am probably going to put this aside until I finish at WGU. I want to prepare for the Project+ and finish that off close to immediately when my next semester starts on the 1st of September.

The test has four scenarios in it and they can be quit long winded, best advice is to take your time and ensure you dont miss any information in the scenario. Each scenario has about five questions related to it.

    NDA meaning - non-disclosure agreement?

    Default Booked for 23/9

70-685 booked for 23/9, awesome MS deal on at the moment, discount + free second shot, bought the 2 exam pack to start.
I've been studying with CBT Nuggets and 70-685 MS Press book and, with a little bit of Win 7 Resource Kit, have failed a few practice tests but have done well the last 3 times, looking forward to the test...

    yay I passed 70-685 yesterday with 850!
Scenario questions (in theory) are just like any other question, in fact kind of easier cos you have more into to base your answer on.
I would recommend the Windows 7 Resouce Kit as well as the 70-685 MS book, cbt nuggets were good but not great, I got my visual help from playing round with Win7 at work, exploring group policy etc
